It’s just allergies. Have you ever found yourself uttering those words to others when they see you sneezing, runny eyes, stuffed up nose, all a mess with a tissue in your hand? Allergy season equates to irritability.  There’s  nothing more uncomfortable than a nose plugged up with pollen. Many people turn to conventional allergy medicines, but they can often leave you feeling worse and have unpleasant side effects. Essential oils provide a natural, enjoyable way to ease the discomforts of this time of year. Here are some oils that you may be interested in experimenting with for yourself this allergy season.

Eucalyptus - can open the respiratory pathways, reduce inflammation and allow easier breathing.

Peppermint -  helps to open a stuffy nose and can reduce associated headaches.

Lavender - is a natural antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and very soothing to the nervous system. It can also help  to relax your breathing.

Lemon - boosts the immune system, relieves respiratory distress, is antibacterial and relieves respiratory inflammation.

Roman Chamomile - is anti-inflammatory, relaxing, relieves headaches and eases inflammation.

The oils can be used in a diffuser or inhaler, that you can carry with you wherever you go. I personally find that  vitamin C and Quercetin, all natural antihistamines, are helpful to supplement with, along with lots of water.

What have you found that works for you and your allergies?
